The Praxis Subject Assessments (formerly the Praxis II exam) measure knowledge of specific subjects that K‐12 educators will teach and general and subject‐specific teaching skills and knowledge. For the most up-to-date information on which content exams are required for your licensure please visit the ETS website or visit the School of Education website.

Step 1: Take a practice content exam on Learning Express Library.

Take a practice content exam through Learning Express. Register for a free account and search the Praxis exam you are interested in the toolbar.

Step 2: Select coursework that aligns with your content-area.

Studies show that teacher-candidates who complete content-rich coursework perform better on their subject assessments. When planning out your schedule, consider taking courses that compliment the subject areas you will be assessed on for your licensure.

Step 4: Meet with your Academic Success Coordinator.

Your faculty advisor is knowledgeable on the exam requirements, content-specific resources, & can offer you recommendations for materials to review for your subject assessments. Additionally, they make every attempt to supplement the courses they teach with content that is relevant to you and your licensure needs. Reach out to them to receive one-on-one support.

When should I take my Praxis Subject Assessment?

ADVICE:

It is highly suggested to take and pass the Praxis assessments prior to student teaching to avoid a provisional teaching license.
